The Objects of The Word – Ron Volk

The church is not the building, but in the Greek {Ekklesia} means the “called out ones” or “an assembly”,they are the objects of the Word, they are the Church.  The Word {Bible} is written to us and for us, at a great price.  It goes without saying that we need to understand that our purpose as the objects of the Word are very important if we are going to be among His elect-His own possession.  We will look at an issue on how some responded. Were they open or closed to light?   Being able to recognize issues is foundational to overcoming and walking in the light as He is light.

Matthew 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. 13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. 14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: 15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. 16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. 17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. 18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. 19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the wayside.

We see the Lord is speaking in parables because God cannot reveal Himself to the “wise and intelligent.”  Notice, Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

Such people cannot expect revelation from God; therefore they are not able to receive understanding from the Word.  It is a two-fold directive to them.  They are not only incapable of receiving revelation directly from God, but they also are unable to receive revelation from the ministers of the Word.  Whenever there are the wise and intelligent among the audience, the Word of God is either weakened or totally obstructed from being released.  I have seen this in giving messages and have had others talk to me about the difficulty in giving messages when they have encountered this same thing.  The one giving the message is in a spiritual fight that the audience cannot feel or sense.

The more a person considers him/ herself to be wise, the harder it is for them to be enlightened.   The more they depend on themselves, the more tightly God’s Word is closed to them.

Let’s look at a couple Old Testament prophecies that frequently the words were shut up and sealed.  Isaiah 29:11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:   Daniel 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.  This shows the Word may be released or be shut up after being released.  There is an important spiritual principle, man may hear God speaking and yet that Word can be shut up to him/her.  He/she may tough God’s Word nevertheless it is still sealed toward them.  The Lord Jesus gives us its cause-man’s own wisdom and understanding {Matthew 11:25}.  The Lord hides His Word from the wise and prudent so that they may not perceive.  Hence, whoever considers themselves wise and understanding, from him/her the Holy Spirit will hide the Word in accordance with God’s mind and will.

There is a basic principle in Scripture that goes back to the Garden of Eden.  The basic principle which is revealed in the Bible is that after man has eaten of the fruit of the tree of the Knowledge of good and evil, The Tree Of Life is closed to him/her.  Notice,  Genesis 3:.24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.  As soon as a man/woman possesses the knowledge that comes from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, he/she is incapacitated from touching life. Such a touch is then not only impossible to mankind, it is also forbidden by God.

This is a brief meaning of “shutting up.”  It means more than man’s inability; it is also God’s forbiddance.  How serious is this?  Whenever a person focuses on knowledge for the sake of knowledge, life will escape them.  Bear in mind that at the time we boast of our wisdom and understanding, considering ourselves superior, the Word of God is hidden from us.  This is God’s sealing.

Remember earlier in Matthew 11: 25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

Perhaps in speaking to those who are newly begotten we do not need to exercise our spirit too strenuously, nor do we need to draw on much light or words, because they are yet babes in Christ.  And naturally as we tough upon those who have tasted the meat of the Word and higher revelation of God–we obviously need to use more of the spirit to push forth more light.

But suppose one comes who considers themselves wise and full of understanding, this one will God hide His pure revelation.  Not only will God not reveal them directly to them, even the minister of the Word is hampered by their presence.

As one shares or delivers {the Word, your spirit and the Holy Spirit, as well as your words, are released}, But if there is one in the audience who thinks him/herself wise, then he/she is merely an observer and he/she automatically blocks the word from flowing purely.

1 Corinthians 1:19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

The more tender the attitude of the Word, the stronger the Word comes forth.  Think on this, if the object of the Word is willing and readily obedient, the Word will be manifested in more light and revelation.  It is hard to help those who close their hearts and minds, but relatively easy to help those who come humbly and child-like.  This too is a basic spiritual principle.

In closing. We have barely scratched the surface on this topic. With anything I have shared I hope you will dig deeper into the topic and God will bless your efforts because everything on any given topic can not be covered thoroughly in one article or message.  Maybe a part 2 to follow.  Still much to cover on this topic.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Brethren, be humble and learn.  So may we ask God for mercy that He grants us the ability to learn something substantial and real.  May God give His ministry to the called-out ones, {objects of the word} and may we learn all that we should learn.

God be with you as you search for light.

Your brother in Christ,

Ron
